Each year SMASH holds a drawing for $100 to the winner holding the magic ticket. This years number is above. The SMASH Education Fund finances NAR memberships for about 15 kids each year plus awards for the top A & B division flyer to go to NARAM. The fund also supports TARC teams in West Michigan. Officer Elections for 2011-2012
On October 2, 2011, at the sport launch, attending members nominated and voted in the Officers for 2011-2012. All elections were unanimous. Here is the list of Officers, as elected.
For the office of President, Pam Gilmore was nominated, the nomination was seconded, and the vote of attending members taken. Pam Gilmore is re-elected to the office of President (Queen!)
For the office of Vice-President, Nancy VanderVoord was nominated, the nomination was seconded, and the attending members vote taken. Nancy VanderVoord is re-elected to the office of Vice-President.
For the office of Secretary, Matt Johnson was nominated, the nomination was seconded, and the attending members vote taken. Matt Johnson is elected to the office of Secretary.
For the office of Treasurer, Jay Calvert was nominated, the nomination was seconded, and the attending members vote taken. Jay Calvert is re-elected to the office of Treasurer.
For the office of Senior Advisor, Bob Alway was nominated, the nomination was seconded, and the attending members vote taken. Bob Alway is elected to the office of Senior Advisor.

We have received approval to continue to use the Wayland Fire Barn Conference room for our business meetings and build sessions. The SMASH business meeting has been moved to Sunday, October 30th, 2011 at 1pm to 5pm at the Wayland Fire Barn. All officers, members, and any other interested parties are asked to attend. As usual, we will have a potluck, please bring something to share. The agenda will include discussion of the upcoming contest year, events, and NARAM 54. This is a very important meeting, please make plans to atend!

YELLOW SNOW FOLLYS ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
January 1st will be MMAR's first launch of the new year, and we will be joining
the Port City RC Club for their "7th Annual Chili Pig Down and Fun Fly". This
will take place at the Port City RC Club field (heated clubhouse!)at noon. The
route is M-46 (Apple Ave.) to Swanson Rd. Turn south for 1 mile, then West on
E. Laketon. The entrance is located on the north side of the road.

I will post an actual map on the MMAR and SMASH websites. Anyone wanting to fly
HP, we will have the waiver in effect, but it does not cover the RC Club field,
so we will have to go to our field to fly HP. Of course the RC fliers are
invited to see any and all HP flights. We will also be flying low power stuff
at their field. Come join us!!!!
Post Christmas Party and Rambo Gift Exchange
Our annual Christmas Party is Sunday, January 8th, 2012, at Wayside West in Kalamazoo, MI, from 12pm to 5pm. Please bring a potluck dish to pass, and if you would like to participate in the Rambo Gift Exchange, bring a rocketry related, wrapped gift, $20-$25 range. NO GAG GIFTS! It's not fair to the recipient that brought a legitimate gift, to go home with a 'gag' that you thought would be funny. As a 'gag' gift reciepent twice, I speak from experience! If you don't know how we play the Rambo Gift Exchange, it will be explained before we start. BE WARNED! It's a lot of fun and takes several hours! :)
